Am I eligible? To be considered for the program, you need to be:
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
You are eligible if you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, aged 21 or over, and hold one of the following:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Gold Repatriation Health Card
- White Repatriation Health Card (specifying hearing loss)
- Centrelink Sickness Allowance
You may also be eligible if you are:
- A dependent of someone in the above categories
- An active member of the Australian Defence Force
- A client of CRS Australia
Additional Support Available Through Australian Hearing:
The following groups are also covered under the program but must access services directly through Australian Hearing:
- Australian citizens under 26 years of age
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 50 years of age

WHAT'S INCLUDED
Eligible seniors, pensioners, and veterans can access a comprehensive range of products and services tailored to their needs, with many options provided at no cost:
- Free Hearing Assessment – A qualified audiologist at Expert Hearing Care will assess your hearing at no charge.
- Hearing Devices – If your assessment shows that a hearing aid or other device would benefit you, we'll help you choose from quality manufacturers. Many devices are completely free, and for more advanced technology, the federal government subsidizes a significant portion of the cost, making premium solutions accessible and affordable.
- Training and Support – We provide complimentary training and counseling to help you get the most out of your hearing devices.
- Maintenance and Batteries – Annual maintenance contracts are available and heavily subsidized by the federal government, covering device servicing and batteries for a minimal annual fee.
Can I change to a different provider without obtaining a new voucher?
Yes, you can change providers with your existing voucher, though the Office of Hearing Services requires a valid reason for the transfer. The relocation is typically approved based on legitimate practical or personal circumstances rather than product preferences alone—for instance, requests based solely on one provider offering different hearing aid brands are less likely to be approved.
Common grounds for provider relocation include:
- Convenience – Choosing a provider with a more accessible location, such as one of our Expert Hearing Care clinics closer to your home.
- Relationship concerns – If you've experienced a breakdown in the relationship with your current provider, you're entitled to select a new one that better meets your needs.
If you believe you have valid reasons for changing providers, we can assist you with the relocation process.
Ongoing Care and Battery Replacement
MAINTENANCE AGREEMENTS
If you're fitted with hearing aids, we recommend taking advantage of a maintenance agreement with Expert Hearing Care. The Australian government subsidizes the majority of the cost, making it an affordable way to protect your investment.
For a small annual fee, your maintenance agreement includes:
- Regular servicing and maintenance of your hearing aids
- Ongoing battery supply
Without a maintenance agreement, you'll need to purchase batteries separately and pay out-of-pocket for all servicing and repairs.
