Implantable Devices
Implantable devices are surgically placed medical technologies that restore or enhance hearing for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss. These include cochlear implants, which bypass damaged parts of the inner ear to directly stimulate the auditory nerve, and bone-anchored hearing systems that transmit sound through bone conduction. By converting sound into electrical signals sent directly to the brain, these devices provide significant improvements in speech understanding and quality of life for those who cannot benefit from traditional hearing aids.
Cochlear Implants
While we don't perform cochlear implant evaluations or surgery, Expert Hearing Care works closely with cochlear implant clinics across Western Australia to provide essential support services for implant recipients. For clients eligible under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, we cover speech processor repairs and replacement parts at no cost. Eligible clients under 26 may also access processor upgrades and replacements. We also offer hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings for the non-implanted ear, FM systems (when clinically indicated), and communication training for adults.
Bone Conduction Devices
Bone Conduction Hearing Aids If you have a conductive hearing loss in one or both ears and are medically unable to wear standard hearing aids, a bone conduction device may be suitable for you. These devices are available in both surgical and non-surgical formats. Expert Hearing Care provides bone conduction solutions to eligible individuals. Contact your audiologist to learn more about your options and determine the best approach for your hearing needs.
